Tsekar Drubchen at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling

The annual 9-day Tsekar Drubchen (White Amitayus’─the Buddha of Longevity) performed in Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery’s main temple concluded yesterday.

More than 500 monks, nuns, high Lamas, and laypeople, both local and Western, attended the drubchen. As always, for 9 days the extraordinary event was presided over by the monastery’s abbot, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and the monastery’s Vajra Master Phakchok Rinpoche
On some days a one-hour long masked Lama Dance pertaining to this sadhana was carried out inside the temple.

On the auspicious full moon ‘Düchen’ day, all activity centers of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche made an elaborate offering during the Tsekar (White Amitayus — long life) drubchen. In the morning a group of young boys received ordination and received Dharma names. In the late afternoon extensive empowerments were given by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche and Phakchock Rinpoche.

On the drubchen’s final day, which begans at 2:30am, scores of devotees, inside and outside the main shrine hall gathered to receive the blessings and empowerments when the mandala box was finally opened and its various sacraments distributed to all those present.
