Pledge to rebuild Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery

One-Year Anniversary of The Nepal Earthquake

A Personal Message from Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche

“On the one-year anniversary of the tragic earthquake in Nepal I would like to share with you our heartfelt appreciation and encouragement.

Our monastery lamas, monks and nuns have done everything possible to help those who have lost and suffered so much. Over 90 relief missions to the worst affected districts have provided more than 25,000 people with essential food, medicines, tents and building materials. Our ongoing efforts continue to rebuild 55 homes in Dhola, where everyone lost their land, buildings, crops and animals. And we will do whatever we can in the future to help all those in need.

At our monastic homes in Pharping, Nagi Gompa and Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, we manage to keep our regular schedule of pujas, prayers and ceremonies. The three-year monastic retreats continue, as do the monks’ studies and academic courses at Rangjung Yeshe Institute despite catastrophic damage to our main monastery building and living quarters.

On this one-year anniversary of the earthquake, I would like to share with you a model of the proposed new design for our main monastery that will be able to seat 1,000 people. The detailed design plans are now being prepared, a construction committee has been formed and, with your support, construction will begin soon.

We continue to make prayers and pujas for those who passed away during the earthquakes, and for those who are still suffering. From the bottom of my heart, I send my thanks to all those around the world who have helped in our relief and rebuilding efforts. Thank you.”
