New Rooms for our Senior Monks of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling
On the day before Tibetan Losar the monks of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling, led by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, held a sang puja to clear away obstacles and to create auspicious circumstances for the coming year. On this auspicious day Rinpoche inaugurated the new wing of monks’ quarters at the monastery, and gave our senior monks keys to their new rooms.
This new wing of the monastery was already partially constructed at the time of the earthquake, but was damaged at that time and needed to undergo extensive retro-fitting. Now the building is strong and stable, and contains more than 100 rooms for the monks. The rooms for our senior monks are very well equipped with attached bathrooms and small kitchenettes.
Rinpoche emphasized the importance of our monastic sangha—and particularly our senior monks and nuns—for the survival and flourishing of the Buddhadharma. He explained how important it is that the senior monastics have a good place to stay, and are able to live well and care for their health, so Rinpoche was especially delighted to be able to give the keys to these newly completed rooms for the senior monks on the day before Tibetan New Year!
