On Wednesday, August 26, devastating flash floods swept through northern Nepal, destroying homes, roads, and bridges and leaving communities facing profound loss and uncertainty.

This tragedy is especially close to us. Many of the monks at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling come from the affected region, and the suffering there touches families and communities closely connected with our sangha.

Shenpen Nepal, founded by Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche to support people and communities in need across Nepal, is preparing to respond and provide assistance to those affected.

Based in Nepal and closely connected with Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, Shenpen has longstanding relationships with local communities and many years of experience providing practical help where it is most needed. Following the devastating earthquakes of 2015, Shenpen carried out extensive relief and reconstruction work, supporting communities through both the immediate emergency and the difficult period that followed.

For the current relief effort, Shenpen will work closely with the relevant Nepalese government authorities and local partners to ensure that assistance is coordinated through the appropriate channels and reaches the communities where it can be most effective.

Because Shenpen works directly on the ground through its local network and operates with very low administrative overhead, donations can be used efficiently to support those in need.
