Second 30-day Intensive Ngondro Retreat for our Himalayan Sangha
Dear Sangha,
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you who supported this year’s 30 day ngöndro (preliminary practices) retreat for our Himalayan sangha at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery in Boudhanath, Nepal. Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche spearheaded this wonderful practice event for 300 practitioners, and Lama Öpak guided them in their daily practice.
Nepal is currently facing many post-earthquake hardships, including a shortage of food and petrol.
In these circumstances it is truly inspirational to witness a community of people that is putting spiritual practice first and has made such an amazing commitment to practice. Due to the support of a few Nepalese and a few of you, the monastery was able to support the cost of $30,000 to offer three simple meals per day to each participant.
In the future Rinpoche plans to organize one month and three month retreats for his Himalayan followers. Furthermore, the monastery will continue to offer Tibetan language, meditation, as well as introductory Buddhism classes, as many local people have expressed a strong desire to continue studying and practicing the dharma in a serious manner.
If you are interested in supporting these future projects, donations can be made through http://shedrubfund.org/how-to-donate Please remember to specify that your donation should go towards the Himalayan Retreat and Study Programs. Thank you.
