Passing of His Eminence Thubten Zopa Rinpoche

With the utmost respect and fondness, H.E. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche recalls when he, at the age of 12, met H.E. Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche at Dalhousie, India, where many young tulkus pursue their dharma education. The two Rinpoches were classmates and shared a warm, brotherly relationship, which has remained a cherished memory for H.E. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche.

At this time, we cannot help but feel a deep sense of sadness for the loss of H.E. Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche. The impact of his teachings and his compassionate presence have touched the hearts of countless individuals, and his passing is felt keenly by all who have had the honor of being connected with him.

This morning, H.E. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche joined the ongoing extensive puja at Kopan Monastery, performed with pure and heartfelt prayers by devoted monks, followers, and those connected with H.E. Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche. May we all pray one-pointedly for his swift reincarnation and the continued spread of the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion through his teachings.
