Three large Buddha statues were moved into the Thousand Buddha Temple in Lumbini
Three large statues of the Buddhas of the Three Times, each more than 4 meters tall, were moved into the Thousand Buddha Temple in Lumbini yesterday. Statues of the past Buddha Kashyapa, the present Buddha Shakyamuni, and the future Buddha Maitreya now stand inside the main shrine hall of the temple. Now that the statues are inside, they will be carefully prepared by gifted artisans for their final gilding. Furthermore, the statues will be filled with precious and holy substances and then consecrated by means of an elaborate consecration ritual. Finally, the statues will be moved to their final seats, in the center of the shrine, where they will be surrounded by 1000 Buddha Shakyamuni statues, each almost half a meter in size.
