The Grand Inauguration of the Thousand Buddha Temple will take place on Lhabab Duchen, November 22, 2024, a day that commemorates the Buddha’s decent from Heaven. We have chosen this precious day for the Grand Inauguration in consideration of the cooler conditions in autumn and the fact that hundreds of students from all over the world are already planning to attend the 44th Annual fall Seminar in Nepal. The Annual Seminar will begin on November 23, 2024 in the newly inaugurated temple, and will continue for five days, followed by a three-day Tara’s Triple Excellence retreat. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche extends his heartfelt invitation to all of you to join us in Lumbini for the special Grand inauguration on Lhabab Duchen. If you are unable to be in Lumbini on this auspicious day, please rejoice from the depths of your heart, wherever you are. Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is a UNESCO world heritage site that belongs to all of us. Everyone is welcome—Buddhist and no-Buddhist alike—to visit the temple and enjoy the beautiful and peaceful environment of the flower gardens outside and the extraordinary artwork of the sacred statues and intricate wall paintings inside.
