Summer Program at RYI Goes Online

Due to the unique situation of this year many of us now have had to make new plans and adapt to new ways of doing things. At Rangjung Yeshe Institute the last few weeks of the spring semester was moved to an online platform and students finished out the remainder of their class time from their homes, scattered in different parts of the world. As well as this, RYI had to cancel their regular Summer Program which has taken place every summer for the last 16 years at Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling, in Boudhanath. However, following that decision, many students, faculty members and other friends of RYI expressed their wish to be able to study this summer online. After successfully implementing and conducting RYI’s regular spring semester classes online, the possibility of having the Summer Program online is now becoming a reality. Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche also expressed how important it is that the Summer Program go ahead.

In order to try to meet the request of potential students who are interested in taking RYI courses, and at the request of Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, RYI will offer most of the courses that are given during the regular Summer Program. These include Colloquial Tibetan (beginning, intermediate, advanced), Classical Tibetan (beginning, intermediate), Sanskrit (beginning, intermediate), Buddhist Studies, Nepali (beginning, intermediate) and Pali (beginning).

RYI is now accepting applications for all these courses and due to the exceptional circumstances, these courses will be offered at 50% discount off regular tuition. Part of the Buddhist Studies’ program, taught by a Khenpo of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling monastery, will be available by donation.

All courses will include a combination of live interactive activities with the teaching faculty as well as pre-recorded or downloadable activities. Intensive for-credit courses will offer three hours per day of classes, and interactive sessions held at different times of the day to make sure students located in various time zones can benefit fully from the learning activities.

As enrolment for some courses will be capped at a maximum number of students, early registration is encouraged in order to reserve a spot in a given course. To learn more please visit: https://www.ryi.org/programs/summer-intensives
