Tibetan New Year Retreat

Gomde California will celebrate Losar, the Tibetan new year, with a retreat focused on the practice of Guru Rinpoche.  This essential practice of our lineage will dispel all obstacles to our practice and ensure that we make unimpeded progress on our spiritual path.

Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche has encouraged our community to come together regularly to practice the three core meditation systems of guru, yidam, and, dakini.  The Thinley Nyingpo is the main the practice of guru, here in the form of Guru Rinpoche, from the Chokling Tersar Lineage.

This retreat will be led by two experienced and authorized Western lamas, Gerry Prindiville and Claude Herail, both of whom have taken part in the the traditional three-year retreat.  They will offer guidance in the practice, answer questions, and lead the group in the daily sessions.

The retreat will begin on the evening of February 24th with the practice of Vajrakilaya to avert any obstacles that may arise.  The retreat will then focus on the daily practice of the Thinley Nyingpo, including two feast offerings.  I addition to these practices, we will also incorporate the Treasury of Blessings a practice of Shakyamuni, as well as the Green Tara practice, the Essence of the Two Accumulations.  The progam will end at midday on Sunday the 26th.

Participants of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome, so please join us to practice celebrate the Tibetan New Year together.
